Kim Zolciak Biermann has been given the 'DWTS' ballroom boot.

Kim Zolciak Biermann is no longer in the running for the mirror ball trophy.

Dancing with the Stars' host, Tom Bergeron, delivered the news on Monday evening during the show's broadcast.

"The rules state, and these are rules that we've had since 2005, when we started the show," Bergeron said. "And, I'm quoting from them. In the instance of illness or other health related matters affecting a participant's ability to participate in the game, they must withdraw."

Zolciak Biermann, who is recovering from a "mini-stroke," called in live from Atlanta to the show. She said she learned the routine on Saturday, but was not given permission by her doctor to board a plane to Los Angeles.

After the announcement, the former star of the Real Housewives of Atlanta was visibly upset as was her dance partner, Tony Dovolani.

"They said that she might be able to fly on Sunday next week," Dovolani said. "So, if the rules could be bent, maybe just one time?"

Dovolani and Zolciak Biermann even tried to rally some support to change the rules on social media after the announcement was made.
