The Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin would've turned 55 Wednesday. And his daughter, Bindi Irwin, celebrated the occasion by sharing a photo of her late father in his element.

"Always in our hearts," they 18-year-old captioned a photograph of her dad looking into the eyes of a cockatoo, with a wide smile spread across his face.

Steve died nearly 11 years ago after a stingray pierced his heart, but his presence was felt recently when his son, Robert Irwin, appeared on The Tonight Show Feb. 16, showing Fallon animals like the African dwarf crocodile, a screaming armadillo and a red-tailed boa.

Robert called the appearance an "honour" to "follow in my dad's footsteps" in a split screen photo shared on Instagram, showing his dad on the late night show when it was hosted by Jay Leno.

"Tears in my eyes," Bindi captioned the same photograph on her Instagram. "So proud of @robertirwinphotography ❤️ You are more and more like Dad every day. I'm forever thankful to be your sister."

Bindi also honored her father while competing on season 21 of Dancing with the Stars in 2015, which she won. During the competition's most memorable year night, Bindi performed a contemporary routine inspired by the year she lost her father, which judge Julianne Hough called "breathtaking."
