Straight Up Hollywood podcast: We deliver details from 'Game of Thrones' premiere, party
Relax, fans. After more than a year, Game of Thrones is back.
On this week's Straight Up Hollywood podcast, USA TODAY's Bill Keveney (@billkev) and Diana Kruzman (@DKruzman) offer details of HBO's splashy Season 7 premiere from the red carpet (actually blue, to keep with the GOT winter theme despite 80-degree Hollywood weather).
They dish on the cast interviews, a pre-screening Thrones concert and an open-air after-party featuring an Iron Throne sculpture and a dance floor map of Westeros.
TV reporter Keveney also shares actors' perspectives on the series, which only has 13 episodes left, and provides a quick reminder of where we left Jon, Dany, Cersei and Sansa — and where they all may be headed.
All those premiere party sculptures of the Night's King should provide a hint of the action when the new season opens Sunday on HBO (9 ET/PT).
In addition, entertainment reporter Carly Mallenbaum (@ThatGirlCarly) discusses her interview with Lily Collins, who stars in the new Netflix film, To the Bone.
Collins brings special knowledge to the role of a woman struggling with anorexia, as she has had her own experience with an eating disorder.
Finally, the panel analyzes Thursday's Emmy nominations, assessing winners, big-name nominees and the always interesting snubs.
And, if you're looking for more Game of Thrones chat, check out The Mothership, USA TODAY's sister entertainment podcast, where host Brett Molina (@brettmolina23) talks to guest Keveney (microphone hog!) about the show and the new season.
Enjoy the podcast — or two — regardless of the temperature.
