10 concerts Facebook post: Tommy Casserino from Irondequoit started it

Here are 10 concerts. One's fake. And it's all tied to Rochester.

An Irondequoit man earlier this week says he launched a Facebook game that quickly went viral. You've likely see the game — or variations on the game — in your Facebook feed this week. Maybe you played it, maybe you cursed it.

Either way, you can thank Tommy Casserino, 46, for the lighthearted distraction. Casserino said he's been noodling this idea for a while, but posted it on social media Tuesday.

"I just never thought it would blow up that big," he said in a Facebook live chat on his page on Thursday. "I was sick and tired of going on Facebook and hearing all of the negative posts, everybody hates people. I figured maybe I could make a difference for like two minutes."

Casserino has worked in music production for touring bands since his teenage years, and now he sets up concert stages at Del Lago Resort and Casino in Seneca County. Based on his love of music and his fun-loving social media presence, he thought the game would be a creative way to interact with his friends.

"It’s really a corny game," he said. "I didn’t think it was going to go crazy, but who doesn’t love concerts?"

He said his phone started blowing up with notifications once the post went viral. Since then, his game has gone international and he's been featured on national newscasts. Even some of his favorite band members have played a version of the game on social media.

He attended Eastridge High School in Irondequoit and still lives in town with his brother and 14-year-old daughter, who wants to work with bands just like her father.

"In the last two days, I didn’t see any negative posts or comments," he said. "Everybody in my whole timeline was playing the game."
