MUSKEGO — With the first tenants for the Parkland Towne Center apartments due to start moving in June 1, construction will start this month at the center on a retail building that is slated to contain a Pizza Hut.
The Parkland Towne Center is a retail and apartment development being built on Janesville Road between Lannon and Parkland drives on the site of the former Parkland Mall. As of now, the only building under construction is the 30-unit apartment building. Two more similar buildings are planned and will be started o the next one as soon as the first one is filled up enough, said a spokesman for developer Ener-Con Companies based in Greenfield.
The apartments, known as The View at Towne Center, are offering a $1,000 cash back bonus for a one-year lease, said Alishia Hurst, spokeswoman.
There is nothing to report as far as finding a replacement for the Sendik's Food Market that will not be moving to the center after all, Hurst said. Other grocery chains are interested, however, said Paulanne Phillips, director of sales. Sendik's announced in mid-April that it would not come to the center, but did not give a reason.
The final development at the center is that the Landmark Credit Union has bought the land on which it will build a new location. The site is on Janesville Road just east of the Pizza Hut retail building where construction will start this month. Other tenants will share that building. No time frame has been given for when Landmark construction will start to build its building.
