A 5-year-old girl was taken to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin with serious injuries sustained in  a two-car crash Saturday afternoon at Moorland Road and  Lincoln Avenue.

The girl was riding in a car driven by her mother, a 33-year-old New Berlin woman. The mother was transported to Froedtert Hospital.

Their car was southbound when it was involved in a collision with a northbound SUV. The crash happened as one of the vehicles was making a turn.

A passenger in the northbound SUV, a 61-year-old Milwaukee woman, was taken to a nearby hospital. The driver, a 60-year-old Kenosha man, escaped injury.

After impact, a tire flew off one of the vehicles and hit a southbound car on Moorland Road in the front. The 65-year-old New Berlin woman at the wheel was not hurt.

Northbound Moorland Road was closed until shortly after 11 p.m., more than six hours after the accident.
