NEW BERLIN — Aspiring authors or those admiring authors are the intended audience for the first Local Author Fair at 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the New Berlin Public Library, 15105 Library Lane.
The fair will include 30 writers from the area whose work spans all genres and audiences. The free fair will be suitable for all ages. Fair goers can meet the authors and learn about their books. A question and answer session is slated for noon.
Among the topics are how to get published and when self-publishing is a good option, the writing process and how to carve time out of life to write. Authors of picture books, historical romance and adult nonfiction will be presented.
Notable authors include MK Wiseman who has been featured in two popular Steampunk anthologies and whose first book "The Bookminder," a young adult historical fantasy novel, was just released.
Planning a story and fully embodying a character is what Jane Kelley loves most about writing. Being able to learn something new with each story spurs her creativity and fuels her passion for writing. Her first novel "Nature Girl" set the theme in all of works - the importance of persistence and the power of imagination.
Sandy Brehl was inspired by a trip to Norway to write the "Odin’s Promise" trilogy. The first book, which shares the series’ name, won the 2014 Midwest Book Award for Children’s Fiction. The final installment is due to be released next year.
