NEW BERLIN — A 72-year-old Campbellsport man was banned from movie theaters while facing criminal charges linked to indecently touching a 24-year-old disabled woman. The alleged incidents happened in a lobby of a New Berlin movie theater.
Humberto Paniagua is charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault that allegedly happened Oct. 4, 11, 21 and 28 of last year at the Marcus Ridge Cinema, 5200 S. Moorland Road, New Berlin.
The victim who is autistic and cognitively disabled has worked there for three years, according to the complaint filed against Paniagua in Waukesha County Circuit Court. The victim's father said she has a mental age of 10 or 12.
Paniagua appeared in court Monday, April 3, and was ordered to stay away from movie theaters.
The defendant is free after posting a $10,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25.
The alleged assaults were captured on video surveillance footage, according to the complaint. An assistant manager saw the Oct. 28 incident, and told the man to leave her alone and to get out, according to the complaint.
