Anthony Scaramucci vows to fire leakers in White House communications shop

On the first day of his new job and amid reports of a shakeup, White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci said he would fire staffers caught leaking to the press.

"I'm going to fire everybody, that's how I'm going to do it," Scaramucci told reporters when asked about how he was going to deal with leakers. "You're either going to stop leaking or you're going to get fired."

It's part of Scaramucci's plan to rein in the leaks that have plagued the White House since the start of the Trump administration.

He emphasized his dedication to clean house if leaks don't stop: "I'm committed to taking the comms shop down to Sarah (Huckabee Sanders) and me, if I can't get the leaks to stop."

According to Politico, Scaramucci said he offered "amnesty" when he met with communications staffers on Monday.

While he says he will focus on leakers, media reports say that Scaramucci's overhaul may target staffers loyal to Chief of Staff Reince Priebus. Priebus has said he was 100% behind Scaramucci's appointment, but he, along with Sean Spicer, previously protested Scaramucci joining the administration, according to reports.
