Muskego's boys swimming and diving team qualified for the WIAA Division 1 state meet in three relays and three individual events at the sectional meet Feb. 11 at Waukesha South High School.
The Warriors accumulated 306 points to take second place as a team behind top-ranked Waukesha South/Catholic Memorial, which won the sectional title with 429.5 points.
Sophomore Ben Gabbey grabbed an individual sectional championship by winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.66 seconds, the event in which he placed 18th in as a freshman in 2016.
Junior Jack Rohlinger qualified for the state meet in multiple individual events, taking second in the 100 freestyle in 47.45 seconds and earning fourth in the 50 freestyle in 21.78 seconds.
Muskego will send three relay teams to Madison, including the 200 medley relay team of junior Jonah Gibson, Gabbey, senior Ryan Fischer and junior Josh Paquette, which took second in 1 minute, 40.92 seconds. Freshman Liam Bangs, senior Connor Andrews, Paquette and Rohlinger qualified in the 200 freestyle relay with a third-place finish in 1:28.47. Also making state was the 400 freestyle team of sophomore Evan Slonac, Bangs, Gabbey and Rohlinger, as they took third in 3:17.74.
The WIAA Division 1 state meet is Saturday, Feb. 18, at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison. The diving competition will begin at 10 a.m. with the timed swimming finals starting at 3 p.m.
