Evan Sinda and Grant Balconi both took home individual championships for the Muskego wrestling team at the West Allis Hale Invitational on Jan. 9.
Sinda won at 138 pounds and Balconi prevailed at 195 pounds for the Warriors, who tallied 173 points for second place behind Elkhorn with 2441/2 points in the 11-team meet.
Sinda, who improved to 13-3 on the season, had a first-round bye and then posted a 9-2 decision in the semifinal and an 8-3 victory in the title match.
Balconi (22-4) pinned his first foe, won an 11-0 major decision and then notched two more pins en route to his title, his second in as many meets.
Heavyweight Jorin McGuire (19-5) took second place, recording a pair of pins and then falling in the title match by pin. Coming in third were Parker Bevilacqua (106), Tom Wintheiser (120) and Vinny Nazario (152).
Taking fourth were Tyler Huckstorf (126), Adam McNally (145), Gavin McNally (170) and Addison Price (182). Tyler Schanen was fifth at 113 and Brian Schroeder sixth at 220 pounds.
Muskego also downed Kettle Moraine, 52-16, in a Classic 8 Conference dual meet on Jan. 7.
Winners were Schanen (pin in 3 minutes, 30 seconds), Wintheiser (4-3), Huckstorf (pin in 4:22), Sinda (pin in 1:54), Adam McNally (14-0), Ben Terloin (forfeit), Nazario (10-9), Balconi (pin in 3:07), McGuire (forfeit) and Bevilacqua (pin in 1:07).
The Warriors take on Waukesha South at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at South, and then compete in the Brookfield Central Invitational at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.
