In a big week, the Muskego girls soccer team not only won its first Classic 8 Conference game of the season but captured the West Bend West Tournament championship.

Mackenzie Balcerak tallied in the 81st minute, assisted by Erin Bolskar, to give the Warriors a 1-0 triumph over Mukwonago on May 3.

Goaltender Madelyn Runyan made three saves for the Warriors, who outshot Mukwonago, 20-5, for the contest.

Muskego improved to 1-1-2 in conference play, with three games remaining in the Classic 8.

The Warriors built on that momentum on May 7 by winning the West Bend Tournament with three victories.

They opened with a 4-1 victory over West Bend West behind goals by Bolskar, Maddie Thorstad, Hannah Schneider and Katie Wasiak.

Muskego then blanked Appleton Xavier, 5-0, with two goals by Courtney Weber and one each from Kate Jochims, Balcerak and Thorstad. Runyan and Lexi Schnittka combined for the shutout in goal.

The Warriors then dropped Oshkosh North, 3-0, in the championship game. Jenny Fischer, Balcerak and Weber all scored and Runyan worked another shutout.

Muskego, which moved to 10-2-2 overall, took on Arrowhead on May 10 and will play in the Al Gusho Tournament at Brookfield East this weekend.
