New Berlin Eisenhower had an excellent season, but having the state softball champion in their division prevented the Lions from being even better.

The Lions were 19-6 overall and 12-4 in the Woodland Conference West, one game behind state champ New Berlin West.

Coach Jeff Setz will lose eight seniors to graduation: Ali Nowak, Riley Rossbach, Andrea Leder, Chloe Janich, Stacey Grabowski, Carolyn Bonnema, Miranda Campanga and Nicole Dorshorst.

The Lions had six all-conference players on some level. First-team all-conference selections were Nowak, Rossbach and sophomore Anna Lang. Nowak was also first-team all-state.

Leder and sophomore Meagan Loewus were second-team selections, and sophomore Erica Buechel was named honorable mention.

'We saw improvement in many of our individuals on our team as the season progressed,' Setz said. 'The team had a great team attitude, and these players always played hard to the last pitch. There was no 'give up' in this team.'

Returning for the Lions are juniors McKenna Hietpas, Abby Dionne, Olivia Osielski and Ashley Brown and sophomores Lang, Buechel and Loewus.

Als on this year's team were Emily Barnes, Molly Beacom and Gabby Makinski.
