With favorable matchups to begin Woodland Conference play before the schedule begins to heat up, the New Berlin Eisenhower girls basketball team has rattled off four straight wins to start league play at 4-0.
The Lions, ranked No. 3 in Division 2 by Wissports.net, pulled away in the second half for a 67-48 road victory over Wauwatosa West on Dec. 13.
Eisenhower (5-1 overall, 4-0 Woodland Conference) led 33-28 at halftime, and the Trojans pulled to within six points in the second half before the Lions pulled away late.
Hannah Plockelman scored 17 points with seven rebounds, while Julia Hintz had 17 points, five assists and six steals. Katie Ludwig added 10 points and six rebounds; Olivia Canady had 8 points; and Jasmyn Somarsingh had nine rebounds and six assists.
The Lions shot 45.2 percent from the field but were just 3-for-19 on 3-point attempts. Eisenhower's defense held Tosa West (1-5, 1-3) to 37.8 percent shooting (17-for-45) and 2-for-17 from beyond the arc while forcing 18 turnovers.
Eisenhower's game against Pewaukee on Dec. 16 was postponed due to last weekend's snowstorm. The Lions were scheduled to play at fifth-ranked Pius XI (5-2, 3-1) at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, before traveling to face DeForest in a nonconference game at 7:30 pm. Tuesday, Jan. 3.
