Red Sox analyst Steve Lyons has domestic violence charges dismissed

Steve Lyons was on a leave of absence from his broadcasting job with NESN.

Red Sox NESN analyst and former player Steve Lyons has had charges of domestic violence against him dismissed, a Superior Court judge in Torrance, Calif., determined on Tuesday.

According to online court records, the charges in April — all misdemeanors that included one count of domestic battery and two counts of intimidating witnesses —  stemmed from an argument with his girlfriend at their Hermosa Beach, Calif., home in January.

The ruling was made after it was determined that police lost photos of Lyons' girlfriend after the incident on Jan. 14.

Lyons, who had been taken off the air as a Red Sox analyst for NESN in light of the controversy, told the Globe he expects to return to the network.

“I’m obviously relieved at the outcome. It’s been a tough time trying to prove my innocence about something that never happened,” he told the newspaper.
