LAS VEGAS — Martin Truex Jr. and Brad Keselowski had a fine duel for most of Sunday’s Kobalt 400, with Truex topping a fading Keselowski at the end for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory.

But local boy Kyle Busch provided the fury immediately afterward when he approached Joey Logano near the pit at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to avenge what he believed was an intentional move on Logano’s part to end his race.

They tangled, and Busch — not known for being magnanimous — left the scrum with a bloody cut on his forehead.

“Not a lot of talking,” Logano said. “Just a lot of swinging. We usually don’t have any issues.”

Were any punches landed?

“None to me,” Logano said with a smile.

NASCAR officials had to drag a livid Busch away from the mayhem.

“I got dumped,” a visibly angry Busch told Fox TV after the pit road fireworks. “(Logano) flat-out drove straight into the corner and wrecked me.

“That’s how Joey races, so he’s going to get it.”

Keselowki, who later said something broke in his car, had slowed considerably and was running in the high lane as Busch and Logano approached on the final lap.

Busch had to move down to get past Keselowski, which put him in Logano’s line. Logano didn’t give much. Busch squeezed between them, and the two made contact a few seconds later, leading to Busch’s spin.

Busch slid down pit road but didn’t hit the wall. He crossed the start/finish line and was scored 22nd, the last car on the lead lap.

A fuming Busch squeezed out of his No. 18 Toyota and approached Logano. Logano backed away, and one of his many crewmembers on the spot stepped between them to confront Busch.

Logano finished fourth, inching ahead of teammate Keselowski at the finish line. He said few words were exchanged on pit road as Busch stormed up to him after both drivers had climbed from their cars.

“I was racing hard there at the end," Logano said. "He tried to pin me hard down there into the corner. I was going to spin out, so I tried to chase it up. And he was there. It was nothing intentional, but obviously he thinks that.”

Truex, meanwhile was celebrating his first win in Vegas, which qualifies him for the 10-race playoff.

When asked about the fight, he said: “No, I didn’t see anything. I heard about it a little bit, that there was a little bit of a fight that broke out.

“I honestly have no idea on the details, but I’m sure I’ll hear about it and see it on Twitter when I get my phone ... and read about it on the way home tonight.

“Who was fighting anyway?” When he learned of the participants, he replied: “Kyle and Joey? Who won?”

There was blood involved.

“Yeah, I’m sure NASCAR is going to love that one. On that note, I should probably go, huh?”
