The Kansas City Chiefs waited until last week to fire general manager John Dorsey, but they’re moving more quickly to line up candidates to replace him.

The Chiefs parted with GM John Dorsey on June 22.

Seattle Seahawks co-director of player personnel Scott Fitterer is expected to speak to the Chiefs this week, and Tennessee Titans director of player personnel Ryan Cowden is also on Kansas City's radar, people with knowledge of the search told USA TODAY Sports on Monday.

The people did not want to be identified due to the sensitivity of the situation.

The additional candidates join Chiefs co-directors of player personnel Brett Veach and Mike Borgonzi among the candidates to replace Dorsey, who was fired Thursday in a stunning move that occurred on the same day the team announced a contract extension for coach Andy Reid.

Many within the league expect Kansas City will stay in-house, most likely promoting Veach, who got his start in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004 when Reid was the coach there and has risen up the ranks since. But Chiefs owner Clark Hunt’s track record suggests he’ll run a thorough search.

Minnesota Vikings assistant GM George Paton and at least one other candidate were approached about interviewing but decided to pass.
