Bryce Petty's injury puts Ryan Fitzpatrick back in at QB for Jets

New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (14) warms up before the game against the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium.

Ryan Fitzpatrick found his way back into the New York Jets' lineup once again on Saturday.

The veteran quarterback replaced starter Bryce Petty in the second quarter against the New England Patriots when Petty suffered a left shoulder injury tackling cornerback Malcolm Butler on a fumble recovery.

Petty was 0-for-3 passing with two sacks and an interception before exiting the game. He was later ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

Fitzpatrick was benched earlier in the season, but he returned when replacement Geno Smith suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Petty was named the starter for the remainder of the season after the Jets' 41-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 13.
