The Detroit Lions selected outside linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin of Tennessee with the No. 124th overall pick in the NFL draft on Saturday.

Reeves-Maybin, at 6 feet and 230 pounds, was a productive as a two-year starter at Tennessee, posting at least 100 tackles and leading the Vols in that category each year. But a season-ending shoulder injury his senior year limited him to starting just four games and posting 20 tackles.

He’s undersized but considered a flexible athlete and a good special-teams player. His father, Marques Maybin, was a basketball player at Louisville but was paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident when Jalen was 8.

"He has instincts and speed," ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay said during Saturday's broadcast.

The Lions acquired the 124th overall pick by trading down during the third round on Friday. The Lions also had the 127th pick, taking tight end Michael Roberts of Toledo.

Reeves-Maybin, a native of Clarksville, Tenn., joins Florida's Jarrad Davis as linebackers taken by the Lions in this year's draft. Davis was the 21st overall pick in Thursday's first round.
